Laura Schaeffer is a graduate of Goddard College's MFA Creative Writing Program and received her Bachelor Degree in English & Creative Writing from the University of Washington. She has worked as a buyer for the Literature & Arts Department at the University of Washington Bookstore and wrote numerous successful grants as Program Developer for a Public Housing Authority.                

Laura's poetry has been published in numerous publications and journals.

 

She is particularly interested in creative collaboration, writing as resiliency and poets who have endured displacement and alienation due to circumstances beyond their control. She has established and facilitated local poetry readings and community workshops, worked with musicians creating youth projects in spoken word and rap with artists composing poetic interpretations of visual art.
